toughest choice I've had yet...

Wow, this really is quite a showdown. Both big-budget comedies that were gamechangers in their own way. Ghostbusters might - *might* - be a touch funnier, but I have to give it to The Blues Brothers for 1) getting there first, and 2) sheer audacity. Spending the most money ever on a comedy (in its time) on a film version of a SNL sketch (a first) based on two characters who *never spoke and had no known backstory*.

The Blues Brothers is hard to beat. The music.... the comedy.......

It's like perfection v. perfection. Ghostbusters wins it thanks to a tighter script and pacing, as well as favoritism.

I thought I was gonna come up against this matchup. The Blues Brothers is excellent, It just wins this.

I choose the movie that was actually funny (that would be Ghostbusters, of course).

Two very flawed movies that get by mostly on charm alone. Both work on other aspects (Blues Brothers on cinematography and music, Ghostbusters on Special Effects) and these are probably the reason they charm the pants off me so.

Tight battle. Blues Brothers has the music and the wackadoo structure, but Ghostbusters has the cleverer concept and great production value.

Ghotsbusters and it isn't even close.

Unbelievable. Ghostbusters is not very good, and Blues Brothers is a comedy classic, as well as one of my favorite movies. This shouldn't be close

Blues Brothers also has the second-best movie soundtrack of all time (behind The Commitments, an under appreciated, little known Irish movie. Fantastic soul soundtrack. Check it out)

Blue Brothers is a very energeic movie but Ghostbusters is more quotable movie and has a better cast

It's not an easy choice, both of these mean a lot to me. But as a theater/choir person, Blues Brothers hits that chord deep in my soul saying "this is what being a musician is all about, this is what performing feels like". Blues Brothers for me.

Ghostbusters smashes here...
