I just watched Taxi Driver for the first time, and while it was ok, and I was pleased with the "twist" ending when I was expecting more of a bummer, I can't help but think that part of the reason some films such as this were so popular or acclaimed is because no one had seen such violence in films at that time. But for me, after all the violent movies I've seen, from Rambo to Haute Tension, the ending of Taxi Driver doesn't seem that shocking. On the other hand, while I am no particular fan of either Tarantino or Pulp Fiction, I can watch Pulp Fiction more than once, and get different things out of it. Whereas watching Taxi Driver once was depressing enough, the prospect of watching it again...why should I want to go back to a 1970's New York with bad fashion, bad people, and that typical grainy cinematography? I guess it's either that, or all of Meg Ryan's cousins out of a Woody Allen/Nora Ephron film with their constant neurosis. Ehhh, those are the moments I'm glad to be from Texas.

Loved Taxi Driver, but PF is almost unbeatable. Travis Bickle is a brilliant character, but the experience I have watching Pulp Fiction is overall more powerful.

Sure, Pulp Fiction has Samuel L Jackson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Christopher Walken, etc but Taxi Driver has Robert De Niro in his PRIME. It's also much more deeper and substantial.

Well I relate more on taxi driver than pulp fiction and I loved it.but I don't think it is better than pulp fiction.
